The delivery of the Trust’s objectives and activities would be determined by a ‘Governing Body’ that represents the Levels, its communities, businesses and environment in an equitable manner.
It could acquire an interest in land in ‘target areas’, particularly those areas which are most vulnerable to adverse impacts from flooding, thereby releasing capital for farms to re-shape their businesses. Acquisition could be by purchase, lease or gift.
The Trust could also provide advice and support to farmers, and other businesses, so they can adapt in areas used for flood storage and become more resilient to flooding when it does occur. It would also provide opportunities for communities, businesses and volunteers to help with the management of land and to build stronger connections between local communities and those that look after the special landscape of the Levels and Moors.
